Awadh ki Shaan ?

I was really really looking forward to this visit ..my first to lucknow and nothing went as expected (whats new ?? ) no I didn’t get to shop (just one suit doesn’t count, right ? ) nor did enjoy the famous kebabs and dahi bhallas (except for a really nice lunch at Clark’s) nor could visit bada immabara and bhul bhullya  , heck I didn’t even have time to click some decent pics of the Taj Vivanta we were staying in …but nonetheless it was time well spent with family and the beautiful wedding that we were part of …..some of the out of focus pictures that I managed on the way ….

Btw I have an appeal to people of lucknow , how can they let some one ruin this beautiful city by building inane concrete structures of herself  ?

Sofa ..So good

While browsing my fav website BLTD I instantly fell in love with this beautiful piece of furniture, and if I could seriously afford it (at $3500 , its slightly beyond my budget :) ), would have ordered right away.

looking at it brought back memories from my growing up days. Most of my “sleeping time” at my parents place have been in living room on the couch , I remember when I would get back home for holidays during my college days, living room couch was the fav place, watching TV, reading books late in night  and ultimately falling asleep, till the time ma would come and wake me up and some how I would reach my bed at night and then would be back in sofa in early morning for my second round of sleep ( 7 am till whatever time I could manage without being physically pushed over by sis and  ma) …I am sure my sleeping on those couch was the single reason for why we had to change so many sofas (at that time I blamed the transportation company which would handle our furniture during dad’s frequent transfer) …ahhhh..those  days …

so here is collection of some of the sofas available in the market, like is said before I prefer the clean simple lines and some sort of “sleepability” in my couch ..what’s your choice

From Durian, they have range in leather , leatherite and Fabric

This sectional from the urban decor..reminds me of the all white sectional which my sis has in her house (in her effort to be minimalistic)  and is covered with thick sheets most of the time for the fear of being touched with a haldi stanied hand :)

and this one from design store reminds of sofa at  home

and for a regal touch the silver sofa from rajasthan ....

I like these contemprorary styles ...

Color me ...red , yellow , blue...

I get bored easily, actually very easily so while the idea of painting my walls in beautiful rich colors appeal very strongly but I know very soon I am going to hate it..so my plan is to paint the house neutral and add some pop of color in small doses and stuff that I could circulate around …here are my picks

Mirror Mirror on the wall...

I am good at jinxing my self , just the last week I commented on how much time I have on hand, I guess god heard me and I am over flowing with work for another month or so L hence my absence from this blog for last few days.

Just wanted to share some ideas of mirror that I was looking for my bathroom, tell me which one is your fav ?

An  edgy modern design

Traditional mirror with simple panel detail

Like the idea of inbuilt sink and lights ?

Mirror with in built back light (LED lighting very similar to the screens of some high end mobiles and blackberries)

And the latest one which I discovered during my stay at st. Regis Washington last year  was one with LCD TV in it …seriously now u cant to afford the all important morning news J

And while we are in topic of mirror, here are some quick tips on how to keep them clean

  1. The very best and safest cleaner for a mirror is clean, warm water used with a soft, lint-free cloth. Wring all water from the cloth before wiping the mirror. Dry the mirror immediately with a dry lint-free cloth .
  2. Don’t spray cleaners directly on the mirror. Always apply cleaner directly to a soft, lint-free cloth and then wipe the mirror. This will help prevent the cleaner from contacting the edges of the mirror and damaging them
  3. Pour vinegar into a shallow bowl or pan, then crumple a sheet of newspaper, dip it in the vinegar, and apply to the mirror. Wipe the glass several times with the same newspaper until the mirror is almost dry. Then shine it with a clean, soft cloth or dry newspaper.
  4. Try using shaving foam to clean your bathroom mirrors, it will stop it from misting up!
